TODDLER

aGES 18 MONTHS - 3 YEARS

Much like our existing primary program, our focus in the toddler community is the “whole child” focusing on functional independence, language, movement, and grace and courtesy. The environment is prepared for the young child to explore and learn amongst a small group of children ages 18 months to 3 years. Children will spend their days participating in activities like watering plants, polishing glass and working on puzzles and other manipulatives to improve fine motor skills. Because we are a bilingual program, language lessons will focus on both English and Spanish with one teacher speaking in Spanish all day and the other speaking in English.

Children will begin toilet learning, if they have not already at home. In a Montessori toddler community, toilet learning can begin as early as 18 months. Other activities may include exploring a musical instrument, reading books with a friend or setting the table with napkins, placemats and flowers for group snack. As we are located on a farm, children will frequently visit with some of our farm animals. A typical day in a toddler environment includes a 2 work cycle, outside playtime, lunch and rest time.
